The future of Springhill is now very positive with two major building projects completed and one major job remaining.
The Trust completed Stage One of the redevelopment of the property in 2014 resulting in a new 15 bed, 2 supervisor accommodation block built on existing land. This comfortable facility provides a long term commitment by the Trustees to the residential addiction programme run the HBDHB. It ensures a level of comfort and support for the visiting residents who attend the 8 week in-residence course.
Stage Two was completed in June 2017 and provides upgraded therapy and consulting rooms for the HBDHB to run the treatment programme and significant landscaping to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the staff and visiting residents.
With stages One and Two completed the Trustees now turn their attention to raising the funds necessary to demolish the old two storey building and replace it with a modern, warm vocational facility built to comply with today’s building standards (Stage 3).
Stage 3 has a projected cost of $500,000 and will incorporate a new entrance and reception area, kitchen, dining room, lounge areas and toilet facilities.
The Trustees extend their thanks to all of the project teams, the project architect, project manager, the team at Simkin Construction Ltd, their subcontractors and suppliers. We also thank the many suppliers outside the contract for their support of these projects.
The Trustees extend their appreciation to all the donors who have provided financial support to allow the Trust to complete the first two stages in the development of this important community facility.
Unfortunately the coffers are bare once again and so our first job is to raise the estimated $500,000 necessary to complete the final stage in the rebirth of this wonderful property.
We continue to need funding and support from the wider community so we respectfully invite you to consider contributing financially to the final stage of this important project.
